Perfection, A Dangerous Habit

Stop asking people to completely do everything. Don't expect your colleagues or employees to do everything perfectly. Sometimes even simple mistakes are great and result in superb outcomes. Several years ago, there was a food-industry company in Tehran, the capital of Iran, who faced some complaints saying that their bread-covering machines had faults and would cover some of the products without bread. The CEO of the company invited the repairman to estimate the cost and they told him it would cost $100K. One day the CEO came into his office thinking how he can prepare the big money. He asked his secretary whether they had any complaints on the last day and they responded to the CEO "no one." He was surprised who solved the problem and how. So he asked about the solution from his administer and he responded that the previous night, one of the workers forgot to turn the fans off. When he came back into his job, he had realized that the empty pockets were blown out of the product stream line and the filled ones were accumulated in the boxes! Even simple mistakes may provide brilliant answers that we don't even imagine!
