The importance of being geographically close to others has been diminished in modern society. Although we may not be connected by geography, almost all are connected in some way to the global network. This has resulted in some significant consequences. Previously, most children grew up in large families which taught them important social skills and manners. This sharpened their instincts and gave them quick reaction times in future decision making.
